Idea Development

We designed to make a coffee machine which is a handy, continent, easy to use. We brainstormed ideas and did some research on how capsule works in a coffee machine. and However, if the machine involved machinery and engineering, might not bebpossible for us to have a complete model but only a prototype.

Prototype making

The first stage prototype used a wood sticker to apply on paper cardboard, which the result is not good enough. We prefer to have a realistic wood texture.

We then drilled the 35mm hole through the PVC pipe, to put in the laser cut STARBUCKS logo inside the coffee machine body. The logo also shared force to balance the cork lid inside the machine.

Sanding is also another important part of this model. We first have to sand each end of a long (5m) wood veneer, which makes the entire outcome to have a smoother surface. Then we used yellow glue to stick wood veneer layers with layers to create a cylinder shape. When we reached 5mm thickness, we finished the model by sending extra wood.
